No, you’re not experiencing déjà-moo!
Six years ago, 550 Australian Holstein cows arrived in Cambodia to help establish the country’s first large-scale commercial dairy farm, Kirisu Farm. Another 220 have now arrived in Cambodia as part of Kirisu’s efforts to expand production.
Australia has worked with Kirisu to make this expansion possible through support from Australia’s economic development program #CAPRED.
Yesterday, Ambassador Yip visited Kirisu Farm in Takeo to welcome the Australian heifers. Their arrival brings the size of the Kirisu herd to around 1,400. Because of this, more fresh milk can be produced here in Cambodia, helping to meet growing demand and reduce reliance on imports, while creating jobs and new opportunities across the dairy value chain.
Our partnership with Kirisu is a great example of how Australia and Cambodia are working together to grow new industries, expand trade, boost food security and create a healthier, more prosperous Cambodia.
