Australia helps Cambodia launch its first Free Trade Agreement portal

The Ministry of Commerce and the Australian Government co-launched the Cambodia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Portal today in Phnom Penh. This bilingual online platform is designed to help Cambodian and international businesses better navigate and make the best use of Cambodia’s 11 FTAs.

Modelled on Australia’s FTA Portal, the Cambodia FTA Portal provides comprehensive information on tariff rates, first-time exporter registration procedures, product-specific requirements and certificates of origin. It aims to help businesses, including small and medium enterprises, to make informed trade decisions and capitalize on the country’s bilateral, regional and multilateral trade agreements.

Her Excellency Ms Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, said, “This platform is a significant contribution to overcoming obstacles and facilitating trade between Cambodia and its partner countries, while also promoting the national economy as a whole. Moreover, the launch of the FTA Portal arrives at the most opportune moment, as Cambodia, together with ASEAN member states and ASEAN’s trading partners, continues to deepen economic integration through ongoing negotiations to enhance the level of free trade agreements.”

According to Cambodia’s General Department of Customs and Excise, the country’s international trade maintained strong growth in 2025, reaching USD59.13 billion in the first 11 months – a 17.01 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

His Excellency Mr Derek Yip, Ambassador of Australia to the Kingdom of Cambodia, “As Cambodia prepares to graduate from Least Developed Country status, maximizing the benefits of existing FTAs will be increasingly important for sustaining economic growth. This portal will help Cambodian companies to understand and compare tariffs and commitments across Cambodia’s various trade agreements and competitively export their products to international markets. The portal will help promote international trade and investment.”

The FTA Portal was developed collaboratively through inclusive consultations and user acceptance testing with key ministries, business associations and private sector representatives. The portal was developed with technical support from Australia, provided through the Cambodia Australia Partnership for Resilient Economic Development.

Held at the Ministry of Commerce, the launch brought more than 200 participants, including private sector representatives, officials from the Royal Government of Cambodia, and development partners and consulting firms.

The FTA Portal is accessible through the Ministry of Commerce website. The portal will be updated with future agreements, enabling exporters to penetrate new markets and understand agreement-specific requirements.
