Australia is a committed and long-standing partner in the Mekong subregion

Last week, Ambassador Yip joined the 2025 Mekong Forum, organised by the Mekong Institute and hosted by Cambodia’s Ministry of Planning. Bringing together around 250 high level stakeholders from government, business, development, academia and civil society from across the region, this annual event is a key platform for regional dialogue on shared development challenges.

This year’s discussions centred on advancing the bio-circular economy, fostering health innovation, and unlocking the potential of the creative industries - sectors critical to sustainable and inclusive growth.

Through the #MekongAustraliaPartnership, Australia is deepening cooperation with Mekong countries to support a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region now and into the future.
