Australia helps extend water access across rural Cambodia

Did you know that even though access to piped water in urban areas in Cambodia is close to 100 per cent, nearly four in 10 rural villages still depend on wells, ponds and trucked water for daily needs?

Ambassador Yip visited the Kampong Ous Water Supply facility in Kampong Chhnang where Australian support is helping bundling of several water systems under a single operator. This has extended services to 2,000 households across nine remote and flood-vulnerable villages – with over 500 families and seven schools already benefitting from the connection.

Australia is helping to ensure that even the hardest-to-reach communities have better access to clean, safe water, contributing to Cambodia’s national goal of universal access by 2030.
